Have you ever thought how humanity has survived as a species more than others? We can live together forming communities, while also being solitary nomads at the same time. There is some sort of key that makes our survival on Earth more apparent than others. The question truly becomes: when did survival become colorful?
Our species, as human beings, has adapted very well to the local environments. We became extraordinary hunters with vast capabilities; eventually the human population gathered into colonies creating small villages. These colonies shared their knowledge of survival to enrich other humans by creating drawings on walls and small sculptures.
This type of shared illustrated practice is among the first types of artwork created by mankind. Meaning, art in general is what makes humanity a strong species above all others. We can communicate effectively and quickly with the power that art provides. In turn, we provide tangible knowledge for the next generation to learn quickly and efficiently.
The sole purpose of creating illustrations was to expedite survival according to La Volpe from YouTube. Survival on Earth is important for all organic life because the life expectancy for a living being is rather short. However, the standard for survival nowadays is very different because humanity has lengthened their life expectancy.
Living longer has procured our survival on Earth thanks to the use of art. The advancement of our longer lives has given us more time to create and educate our species further. Bringing about many fortuitous forms of communication and survival tactics.
However, art today is no longer used in the form of helping others. Art is now a tool for bringing about a person’s views and freedom to act as an independent being in today’s society.
Instead of being used to educate survival tactics, art can now be generated by anyone and be used to express themselves freely. This is done by the use of clothing style, appearance in general, amenities used (vehicles, home decor, ect.), and their overall demeanor. Earth has become a colorful thriving environment since the original creation of art.
Since art has changed from a helping resource to a political tool, survival has shifted and changed as well. Humans now need to form their own individualistic art styles to receive help or assistance. To have a different style of art is to be unique among the billions of humans that exist today.
How does a human survive with the many other individuals all capable of generating their own unique artwork? In the YouTube video by VICE, Building Identity Through Art | It’s Possible, states that expressing oneself through art is not about insulting anyone but learning to respect others. Basically, a human just needs to build their own art style to not upset anyone.
Making yourself interesting, unique, and memorable may be the ideal model to having a respectable art style today. With that in mind, building an art style applies to almost everything such as getting a job, being a student, or even just being a person in general. Your own survival nowadays is to become a person that presents themselves differently than anyone else. If successful, you can achieve daily necessities and mitigate the worries of survival.
The reason why art is important for survival stems from how humanity has bolstered the species. From creating colonies to generating individualism; art has been the key resource to survival. Over time, art has changed our species from being hunters and gatherers to expressive beings. We were once a species like many others, but now have made survival on Earth a colorful experience.
